Summary

Introduction

The CMAP Commercial Services Vehicle Model simulates truck trips within the 21 county CMAP model region. This dashboard presents the results from a scenario run of the model, indicated by the scenario name and year indicated in the header above.

The model comprises two components; the outputs from each one are shown in the other tabs of the dashboard:

  1. Firm Synthesis Model: a list of businesses establishments in the CMAP region
  2. Commercial Vehicle Touring Model: simulation of commercial vehicle travel within the CMAP region

About this Document

This stand-alone interactive dashboard is viewable from most modern Internet browsers. All of the data, charts, and maps viewable in this dashboard are embedded directly into the HTML file, so users are encouraged to share the scenario results with others via this document. An Internet connection is necessary for the best user experience, but is not required.

Commercial Vehicle Touring Model, Stops Models: Calibration Summaries

Commercial vehicle touring model output comparisons with input and control data, for the first four models in the component that simulate firm stop activity (before the set of models that simulate linking stops together into tours)

  • cv_sim_activities identifies which firms make goods stops, service stops, both types of stops, or neither. Calibration checks are confirmatory to ensure that the model is drawing from an observed distribution correctly.
  • cv_sim_schedule stops estimates the number of stops each firm makes in each TAZ as a function of firm characteristics, TAZ land use, and distance from the firm to the TAZ. Calibration is by adjustment of constants and model parameters to match survey stops targets by stop activity, firm industry, firm to TAZ distance, and county.

  • cv_sim_scheduletrips simulates the arrival time at the first stop on the tour and based on that, stop durations, and trip travel times, calculates the depature and arrival time of every trip in the tour. Calibration is by adjustment of constants and model parameters to match survey arrival time distribution targets by vehicle type.
  • cv_sim_intermediatestops estimates whether each trip includes an intermediate stop (e.g., for vehicle servicing or driver needs) and if so, how long that stop takes and whether that stop is located. All tours are retimed to account for intermediate stops. Calibration is by adjustment of constants and model parameters to match surveyed number and location of intermediate stops targets by stop activity and vehicle type.
